The Big Balloon is a story about three siblings who go for a ride in a hot air balloon. It takes place in a very small town and is set in a time before airplanes and ladder trucks and even the telephone. It gets a little intense since the young children are alone in the balloon but they take care of each other and it all turns out fine. There are many positive messages in this story. All four of my kids enjoyed hearing about the big balloon adventure. After hearing this story, my kids were curious about: hot air balloons, helium, telegrams and weather currents.

The mural depicts 85 fairy tale characters (including characters from this weeks story, The Big Balloon) and comes with a simple game sheet which is great for young children and a legend which shows where each character is on the mural.
